Four eminent researchers from the University of Oxford have each been awarded a €2.5 million Advanced Grant by the European Research Council (ERC) to pursue innovative and ambitious projects over the next five years. These grants are among the most esteemed and competitive funding opportunities offered by the European Union, recognizing scientists with a proven track record of significant research achievements.

One of the distinguished recipients is Professor Dame Carol Robinson, Director of the Kavli Institute for Nanoscience Discovery at Oxford. Renowned for her expertise in mass spectrometry, Professor Robinson plans to investigate how this technology can be harnessed for clinical applications, particularly in the context of cancer research.
Her project aims to develop advanced mass spectrometry techniques to analyze intact protein receptors and transporters, providing unparalleled insights into their structure, binding partners, and dynamics. By examining how these proteins change during disease progression, the research seeks to link their status and modifications to the development of cancer. This could potentially reveal new targets for cancer treatment regimens.
